Training Team Standard Operating Procedures

  • Chain of Command
    • Field Training Officer (FTO): Field Training Officers, or FTOs for short, are officers within the APD of any rank from Constable to Lieutenant. Although FTOs of different ranks may have different responsibilities, the general idea and purpose remains the same. FTOs are intended to be officers whose knowledge and understanding of the APD Guidebook, policies, and general workings have been sufficiently demonstrated to a point where they are now trusted with the duty and privilege to pass that knowledge on to newer or less experienced officers.
    • Training Commander: Training commanders are the heads of the training team, and are responsible for the recruitment and overseeing of new FTOs, as well as the FTO program as a whole. The training commanders also dictate policy change to the FTO program or training team at large as needed, and provide an essential role in ensuring FTOs are fulfilling their duties and keeping themselves to the high standards they are expected to reach.

Mock-Ridealongs and Field Training Exercises

  • Field Training Officers are responsible for conducting mock-ridealongs and field training exercises in the performance of their duties to assist and train newer officers to the APD. While the responsibilities of individual FTOs may vary depending on rank (described below), these are the two essential things they are responsible for.
    • Mock-Ridealongs: A mock-ridealong is a test an APD Cadet can choose to take while still on their Cadet phase of training to prepare themselves for their actual ridealong with a Sergeant. This test does not count against them in any way, but serves to help ensure they know the informational material they will be questioned on during their ridealong to become a Constable, and to correct any misinformation or misunderstandings about APD policies they may currently have. While failing a mock-ridealong will never count against the Cadet, passing one will reduce their cadet week by one day. As a final note, this one day reduction of their Cadet period is not stackable, and can only occur once.
    • Field Training Exercises: A field training exercise is a short training event hosted in-game, and is intended to train officers on information pertaining to various tasks and situations that are commonly encountered by the APD. These can include, but are in no way limited to, things like federal events, lockdowns of APD Headquarters, pursuits, etcetera. These exercises are intended to last approximately 15-20 minutes, and aim to teach the officers callouts, tactics, and any other useful information that may assist them in handling the situation the exercise covered when they are next in it.
      • Note:If a federal event is started during the duration of a field training exercise, officers are required to respond to said federal event. Once the event is concluded, officers may resume where they left off in the field training exercise if required.

Field Training Officer Information

  • Requirements
    • Field Training Officers (FTOs): FTOs' requirements will be partially based upon their rank within the APD, with these requirements being set into two tiers described below:
      • Constables & Corporals: FTOs the rank of Constable or Corporal will be responsible for completing one FTO activity per month. This can be either a mock-ridealog or a field training exercise.
      • Sergeants & Lieutenants: FTOs the rank of Sergeant or Lieutenant will only be able to conduct field training exercises, and are not permitted to perform mock-ridealongs. Due to this, as well as their already established requirements to maintain their rank, FTOs the rank of Sergeant or Lieutenant will not have a monthly requirement. However, if they have not conducted a field training exercise within the span of 2 months, they are subject to being retrained on the process by one of the training commanders.
